In support of the EU Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition, Oracle will invest US $1.4 billion in direct and in-kind support for computer science (CS) education in the EU member states over the next 3 years. Under this pledge, through Oracle Academy, Oracle’s flagship programme in education philanthropy that brings computer science education to nearly 3.1 million students in 110 countries, Oracle plans to reach students in 1,000 additional EU educational institutions over the next 3 years, nearly doubling its current EU Oracle Academy membership.

Additionally, over the next three years Oracle Academy will:

  • Deliver to 1,000 additional EU educators Continuous Professional Development (CPD) training in computer science pedagogy, Java, and database programming.
  • Invite National Coalitions in the member states to partner with us in National Coalition programmes to deliver computer science education for teachers and students.
  • Deliver new higher education curriculum in emerging technologies.
  • Level its entire curriculum to EQF standards.

Qualitative Impact

• Development of computer science content and pedagogical skills in educators;
• Access to academic curriculum resources leveled to the European Qualification Framework (EQF) for 2 year college and higher education institutions;
• Student development of object-oriented programming, database, and SQL skills including exposure to in-demand industry technologies including Java;
• Student readiness for college and career with computing and 21st century skills.
