The objective of this pledge is to help develop the digital skills required in the digital economy as well as focus on training to increase the skills of the labour force. ICON will ensure that its staff members are sent on various training programmes in order to become at the forefront of technology, increase staff retention by 10%, increase levels of job satisfaction by 15% and lift levels of innovation by releasing an ICON product to the market by Q1 of 2018.
ICON will also focus on promoting ICT skills amongst women and girls. It’s already a recognized struggle encountered by many, and we will work on seeing a shift in things by encouraging more females to take up ICT at an education level and continue growing with it as a career. ICON will do so through participating in a minimum of 3 talks (at universities, colleges, schools, events, etc.), workshops and opening internships in various ICT fields to guide, train and motivate young girls to continue growing their career on this path. A minimum of 3 internships will be opened – one in Digital Marketing, one in Software Development and one in Web Design.
ICON will also publish one free whitepaper for public dissemination an ICT topic of our choice. Our last ICT whitepaper discussed and analyzed the use of social media in Malta.
