ECDL Foundation pledges to launch an ECDL Computing module which will cover all elements of computing (including, but not restricted to coding) and to pilot it in Europe. The module will be aimed at students aged 12 to 16 years, who wish to start learning about computational thinking and coding. It is likely to be of interest not only to students who are interested in IT and computing but also to those who wish to develop transversal skills relating to problem solving. During the pilot phase, we will collect feedback on the module in order to finalise it. Implementation of the module in the country can only follow after the pilot. Many countries in Europe and beyond are considering computing to be integrated in formal education. This module will answer the need of consistent, standardised and high-quality approach to computing skills development. It will cover concepts relating to computing, various computational thinking techniques, working with algorithms, coding, and other key skills and competences that fall under the concept of computing.
