Amazon Web Services

In 2006, Amazon Web Services (AWS) began offering IT infrastructure services to businesses in the form of web services --commonly known as cloud computing. One of the key benefits of cloud computing is the opportunity to replace up-front capital infrastructure expenses with low variable costs that scale businesses. Today, AWS provides a highly reliable, scalable, low-cost infrastructure platform in the cloud that powers millions of active customers each month in 190 countries around the world.

Qualitative Impact

AWS Educate and AWS Academy are programmes that enable students and educators to increase their advanced technical digital skills and get started with cloud computing.

AWS Educate is an online platform, where students 14 years old can start their cloud education journey with basics of terminology and practical exercises online. Every student can enhance their digital skills by following the platform content, achieving badges for section completion and view how the badges acquired are matching with requirements from potential employees. This way students are gaining practical skills that translate quickly onto job requirements.

AWS Academy is a programme designed for educators, who are being offered specialized training to lead them towards AWS Certification. The educators who complete the training and pass the certification exam are then authorized to teach AWS curriculum at universities, and include it into regular faculties and teach students.

AWSome Days programme is both online and in person training events for large audience during which individuals of all background (employees, entrepreneurs, students etc.) receive the basics on AWS Cloud, interact with AWS authorised technical instructors and learn how to get started on AWS cloud platform. For the majority of attendees it is a first contact with AWS Cloud and often leads to the continuation of AWS education with regular AWS Learning Pathways for solutions architects, developers, system operators, etc.

AWS Online Tech Talks is a global programme allowing attendees to access content that covers a broad range of topics at varying technical levels. This programme is designed for those who continue their AWS cloud education on a regular basis and wish to stay up to date with latest news, releases and announcements.
